Compared to Christian orders, Buddhist monastic life is more frugal. The great worship given to the Buddhist monks is not so much the person himself but rather the respect for the Buddhist teachings (Dharma)that the monk represents. Buddhist monastic rules (Vinaya) are a training for body, language and mins. These rules, along with spiritual teaching, should promote maturity and spiritual development.
